Selling your house is exciting but it can also become a bit stressful, especially when you have little ones to look after all the while. Well, we are here to help you survive the selling process with the kiddos! Let’s take a look and alleviate some of that stress.

 

It’s time to make a game plan! Start by having conversations about the move with your kids. Managing emotions will keep tantrums at bay so keep your kids in the loop. Keep them up to date by having open conversations about why things need to be put away for a while, or explain that the entire family has their stuff being moved to a better house, where everything and everyone will still be together. Involve them in the process as much as you can; that can be by packing together, dropping off donation items together, or cleaning! You’ll need your children’s cooperation more than ever during this time so do your best to make this an exciting process, explain to your family all the good things about the new house (better yard, new parks, bigger rooms, etc.).

 

Now that we’ve got the kids on board, we need to make a schedule for showings. Avoid fatigue from non-stop cleaning and set yourself up for success! If your children are in organized sports, let your real estate agent know their schedule so they can plan showings with those times in mind and bring multiple potential buyers at the same time. If not some organized extracurricular, choose something you can do once or twice a week as a family outing like going to the park for a couple of hours!
